born in 1959 in Hamburg, Germany, he starts a ”regular“ school career, but decides to abandon high school during tenth grade and become a photographer instead.
After apprenticeship he works several years as a freelance painter and designer, but for all that earns his living during night shifts with one of Munich´s first graphic computers. Some years and two computer graphic companies later he decides to become self-employed in 1992.
After long-term and up to this day very successful activity as a media designer, in 2007 he starts to become interested in watches and, very soon, also for their design and especially in watch face design. First concepts are drawn. In 2008 he visits the Basel World and as a result the idea of creating an own brand for a new watch line rises.
In January 2010, NEUHAUS Inventing Timepieces was launched. The company represents quality, innovation and unconventional solutions. Neuhaus: ”Before producing watches all about, we prefer not making any.“

The NEUHAUS Crown
Our crown is a unique detail, developed only by the idea of creating the ideal crown. It is completely smooth and can´t ever hurt its wearer. Due to its size and the silicone ring, it offers superb grip for winding up. What a pleasure to wind up a watch with this crown, and what a beauty it is! The logo varnish on the front side and the inimitable silicone ring are perfectly visible and bear testimony to your being the wearer of a very exceptional and exclusive watch.
NEUHAUS Bracelets
Our bracelets are W I D E. We build large watches. It would look inexpedient if the watch was held by a skinny bracelet. We would use even larger bracelets, but then our clients could just purchase new ones with us. You can chose from several bracelets. Either a fine Milanaise stainless steel bracelet with logo engravement on its butterfly clasp, as well as an ageless classic black leather bracelet with stainless steel buckle. They are 24mm wide.
NEUHAUS Logo
One of the mayor defining features of course is the NEUHAUS logo inside the watch. It is designed in a noble 3-D effect in shiny silver. The reversed N causes a petite aha-effect. Like this, the company already uses its logo the present its objectives.

The story behind the JANUS DoubleSpeed
During your holidays, when you relax and have time to think about different things in life, you often discover your best ideas. In these moments of letting loose, in which you seem to reset all internal processes, but in reality you just shift them over into your subconciousness, lies creative power. The JANUS DoubleSpeed is an emphatic proof for this theory.
The idea rised to me when I was dazing under a sunshade, staring up at it absentminded. My half-awake spirit murmurred something like: „What a weard piece of a watch must that be, if it were able to show the time inside this parasol...“. So I left it at that rather inept comment. The other part of my mind, the one that wanted to enjoy the holidays but was hassled by self-doubts and remorse, started up asking: „what do you mean, ...watch?“, hoping to contribute in any way to the solution of the plenty of problems within the design of mono-handed watches. Desperation had even grown large enough to encourage this part of my brain to peek over halfheartedly and with a disparaging look onto my repeatedly dozed off subconciousness and to start to count the struts of the parasol. Twelve o´clock...one o´clock...two o´clock...three o´clock...oh gosh this is stupid...four o´clock...At this point my eyes were already at a position shortly after half past six, because the sunshade had eight or so struts.
A very small cerebric section, which by other parts had never been recognized more than neccessary, wisecracked without further intentions...then the watch would have to run faster than normal, if at four o´clock it already were to be down at that point...hihi...The rude answer that my awake mind was about to give, literally stuck in my throat.
In that moment the second part of my brain awoke, looked around in a rather moody way - what was going on - we are on holidays god damn!
Of course also this part of my brain had to admit, that, taking a look through my eyes, the space for one hour in the case of accelaration, would have to be twice the size as normal. So the result would be a mono-handed watch being sensationally well readable.
It would be the „most exact“ mono-handed watch in the world.
The rest of the afternoon I spent listening to the cosmic swoosh which my story had left in my little world, and kept on feeling like those people that bounce through the streets rejoicing.
The JANUS DoubleSpeed was born.

Acceleration instead of deceleration
The Janus Double Speed is an innovative mono hand watch which runs at double speed, meaning that the indicator goes round the complete clockface in only six hours.
As a result, the available space indicating one hour, is doubled from 30 to 60 degrees. improving the preciseness of time reading drastically. Put into practise, this means virtually down-to-the-minute exact indication of time. In this sense, the Doublespeed is the most accurate mono handed watch in the world, that is to say the most exact readable.zeiger-uhr der Welt, nämlich die am genauesten ablesbare.
Like in real life, good things do not go cheap. The owner of the time piece not only needs to know if it is e.g. 7am or 7pm, like with any normal watch. But he will also need to differ between 7am or 1pm. The difference turns out to be only 6 hours. Nevertheless, most people probably are in the position to handle this technique.
Design
A simple und functional appearance is beautiful all by itself - and a brilliant design is not the replacement but always the consequence of function.
According to this maxim, we design our NEUHAUS watches. A collection must be self-contained, coherent and consistent. We dislike overlapping brand designs, where all watches look the same.
Exceptions from this rule are the trademarks, that you‘ll find on each NEUHAUS.
ETA UNITAS movement with modifications
Literally the grand classic amongst modern handwinding movements. 36,6 mm diameter, the perfect match for our large watch.
Why handwinding? Each morning you wind up your watch and put it on, it is like you had a chat with it, you feel its inner workings and sensitivities and creates a connection. What is more, with our crown the winding up will become one of your favourite activities.
Each movement is taken apart seperately and modified to DoubleSpeed. Therefore we manufacture completely new hands, connecting all new parts. Then we verify faultless functioning and put together all parts.
Dial with running indication and night vision
JANUS DoubleSpeed´s top guideline is to keep watches suitable for every day´s use. It has an optimally designed face with easily legible numbers, coated with white superluminova colour which luminaires bluish in nightview..
There is also an additional ring with luminous indexing for quarter-, half- and complete hours. The ring is made of matt steel, the white colour can only be seen properly when really needed - in night vision. The watch ows its name to this ”two-faced“ visual appearance: JANUS.
If you take a look at a mono hand watch, you won´t realize if it is even working. This is why the DoubleSpeed disposes of an innovative running indication, which offers an exceptionally attractive solution for this problem.
